In Sandown
Located on the east side of the island Sandown is the perfect base for your holiday.
Whether you have come for a quiet chill on a sunny beach or enjoy a more active holiday you'll find everything you need on the Island, and all of it is within reach from Sandown. You are right on the most scenic part of the coastal path and a left turn at the end of the park followed by a brisk walk will bring you to the top of Culver Down with stunning panoramic views of the Solent and English Channel. Turning right will take you down too the beach which is also one of the best fossil hunting sites on the island. Fossil walks can be booked in Dinosaur Isle which is located in Sandown, about 10 minutes walk from the park. This is a must visit if you have dinosaur mad children!
If you carry on down the road into Sandown you'll find all manner of traditional seaside attractions , a large playpark with a dinosaur theme, Browns' Golf and Ice Cream and a bit further on is the pier. The Zoo and Tiger sanctuary is well worth a visit, set in the remains of Sandown Fort.
There are various pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area catering for all tastes and groups.
